About Us

The Mid Island Animal Health Center, established by Dr. Amanda Stuckey and Randy Holm, has operated since 2012. Before founding the center, Dr. Stuckey worked in the Moncton, NB area for six years. The team at Mid Island Animal Health center are dedicated to providing compassionate and highest-quality health care for your pets.

Dr. Stuckey services pet care needs across Central Newfoundland and accepts referrals for orthopedic surgical procedures from all areas of Newfoundland.

Mid Island believes strongly in community involvement and support. The clinic is a sponsor for many community events such as the annual Salmon Festival, supports the Community Kitchen and provides care to local SPCAs to name a few.

Who We Are

Amanda Stuckey graduated from the Atlantic Veterinary College at the University of Prince Edward Island.

Dr. Stuckey has a Special Interest in Orthopedic Surgery.

Upon graduation, Dr. Stuckey worked in New Brunswick for 6 years before moving back to Newfoundland to open her own clinic.

Wellness Exam

The same way humans need regular doctor check-ups, your pet needs regular veterinary exams. A yearly wellness exam helps keep pet owners informed about their pets well-being.

Vaccinations
Vaccinations

Vaccines are important to protect your dog/cat against preventable diseases that can be life-threatening or even fatal. All pets/owners have different lifestyles and risk factors which come into effect when tailoring a vaccine schedule appropriate for your pet.

Spay-and-Neuter
Elective Surgery / Dental

An elective surgery is one that is scheduled in advance as it does not involve a medical emergency. Common elective procedures include spays, neuters, dental cleaning.

Digital-X-ray
Digital X-Ray/Ultrasound

Radiology and ultrasound services are used as a diagnostic tool to help us diagnose potential health concerns. These imaging services are useful for diagnosing fractures, foreign bodies, heart/lung disease, bladder stones, cancer, etc.

Othropedic-Surgey
Orthopedics

Our hospital is equipped to provide a wide range of services for repairing bone/joint injuries. Some of the services provided include fracture repair, TPLO, femoral head osteotomy, and patellar luxation.

Soft-Tissue-Surgery
Emergency Services

We have a cooperative on-call agreement with Exploits Valley Animal Hospital and Gander Veterinary Clinic. A Veterinarian from one of the 3 clinics is always available to help you and your pet.
